A solid step up, the 2011 Vacqueyras Carmin Brillant is a blend of 70%Grenache and 30% Syrah that was aged 70% in large oak tanks and 30% in 3-year-old barrels. It has impressive aromas and flavors of blackcurrants, licorice, wild herbs and crushed flowers to go with a mouth filling, rich and nicely textured profile on the palate. Balanced, fresh and with a tannic spine, it will have 7-8 years, if not a decade, of longevity.
