Where does the
Where does the

name Les Bateliers come from? On the right of the photo: Edmond Lioret, previously a "Batelier" (here in 1976 with my parents). From the age of 8 to 16, his dad rented him off as a batelier. He worked as an HALEUR, encouraging the animals that pulled barges up and down rivers. The days were long, from dawn till dusk, and at night he slept on the barge's deck.
